Permaculture Gathering August 2011

I was at the recent Permaculture Gathering in Wicklow, on a beautiful sloping site near the sugar loaf for the weekend recently. An organising group had been working hard for months in advance to prepare the site- there were compost toilets, yurts, tents, paths, camping sites and a kitchen garden which was harvested for a communal meal on the Saturday!
I was part of the facilitation team. We had a loose structure in advance for the 3 days but a large part of the workshops and discussions were organised using Open Space Technology. We also had a World Café on Sunday about the future of Permaculture in Ireland and I graphically recorded the exciting outcomes of that.
Photographer and development educator Clare Mulvany was also there documenting the event and you can see some of her photos on her website.
